Consulting

& Pet Care

Combined?

YES.

So, you started a wildfire consulting business..

As a former wildland firefighter turned independent consultant, I am uninhibited when I speak up, fluid as I explore new avenues, and able to endlessly learn in any direction that piques my interest. I lean into being a generalist, rather than shy away from it.

My mind always comes back to how humans relate to the world around us, and how we could do so much better.

… and accidentally made a pet sitting business?

Whoops!

Initially, pet sitting was meant to “fill in the gaps” as I got up and running with consulting on wildfire issues. I quickly excelled on Rover.com, the pet sitting app, with one hundred 5-star reviews, and counting. I fell in love with this kind of work. I can’t imagine leaving it behind. I need this joy. I kept thinking that I would have to if I wanted to make my other ambitions come to fruition.

Until…

I figured it out:

pet parents ARE my ideal consulting clients

Here is why:

  1. Consulting on Climate, Environment, and Natural Disaster Preparedness like Wildfire involves diving into topics that are inherently TRAUMATIC. Your pet is your most available therapist. Please, lean on all of your therapies.

  2. Assessing yourself is hard, but assessing something adjacent to you is easier. How we provide for our pets is closely related to how we interact with the world around us. This provides a comfortable place to start, and re-visit.

  3. Getting to know a household through pet sitting is an easy way to absorb more information. My pet sitting clients will access reduced consulting rates, while my consulting clients gain spots on my waitlist, when possible.

  4. There are no perfect answers in the kind of consulting that I am drawn to. I am a generalist, not a specific expert. I focus on compassion, prioritizing the most impactful themes, and an emphasis on repeating positive behaviors, even in baby steps, to build momentum. That is exactly the same as caring for your pet.

What makes me different?

Not only is my work rooted in ever-improving my own knowledge, it is also:

  • Woman owned and operated

  • Climate and environment conscious

  • Trauma informed

  • Advocacy for both nature and society

  • Community focused

  • Approachable for all
